Jadyn Dante...

January 2007

So far this mother thing has been an amazing experience and slowly but surely, we are getting the hang of it...

I know that I have talked to most of you but here are the highlights of the past 2 1/2 weeks...

I am very thankful that we had a pretty easy delivery. My water broke on Saturday night (At first, I thought I was wetting the bed - that wasn't it!). Ivan got to help deliver Jadyn. The doctor pulled out his head and then Ivan got to pull out the rest of his body - what an experience! Then Ivan cut the umbilicial cord. The doctor said that it was the longest umbilical cord he has seen in 35 years of practice. Although we had some issues with Jadyn being considered low birth weight, not wanting to eat/suck, and jaundice, we are now doing great!

We had the bris (Jadyn's circumcision and naming) on Jan 14th. It was definitely a tough day for Mommy & Daddy (especially Daddy - we all thought Ivan was going to pass out!) We had lots of friends and family come over for it and meet Jadyn for the first time.

Jadyn's umbilical cord fell off on Jan 15th. I know that some people keep it - we did not. I think it is kind of gross so I just wrote down the date and threw it away!

We went out for the first time to lunch for my Birthday. I was a little nervous so I just positioned Jadyn so that no one could touch him. I know I am a little nuts but it was too soon for strangers to touch my baby.

We had our first bath - what a mess! Mommy & Daddy had no idea what we were doing and Jadyn was not happy about it either. That's okay - the second bath went a little smoother.

Latte is starting to love her little brother and becoming very protective of him. The Rabbi came over to check on Jadyn and Latte was not happy. She barked at him as if to say, "You better leave him alone!" Then when he left, she wouldn't leave Jadyn's side.

It's amazing how much we love this baby. And although we are a little tired, it is all so worth it. I wouldn't change a thing...

OK so where do I begin.........Its been an amazing ride so far and its just the beginning! The diaper changing thing isn't so bad but then again he is not eating real food yet!!!!Things that I miss the most are sleep, sleep and more sleep. I think Im getting close to mastering the art of napping whenever I can at doctors offices and whenever I can. Its an amazing feeling and I hope that everybody can experience this feeling that I have when I look at my son, and then I think to myself please don't be one of those Goth kids that dress all in black with the mascara or like country music and fit in with Georgia's native mountain folk..........but whatever he turns out to be I will love him and protect him with all my heart ( This kid has turned me into a bag of sentimental feelings!) Well thats all I have to say, so till the next time............ Peace up! "A" town down!!
